Job Type Full-time, Contract Description The church and the Diakonia Center are in the center of Wroclaw, Poland. The Diakonia Center operates a day center for seniors in which there are rooms for conferences, meetings, and classrooms. The center accommodates groups of children, youth, and seniors. A team of 9 people work in the office, including: the community pastor, 2 accountants, a personnel department inspector, a secretary, and a small group of volunteers. The parish is a very active and lively community. It takes part in many activities and events both in the center and in the city where it carries out its mission through social and educational activities. Timeline:Potential Starting Date: March 2024Assignment Includes: Assist at schools, daycare centers and a day care center for seniors, Prepare and make presentations for small groups regarding traditions and holidays, Coordinate online meetings connecting young people from Poland with Lutheran congregations from around the world, Informal teaching of English classes, Support children, students, and seniors during tours of the city, Organize joint work with local organizations and with city authorities, Assist in organization of gatherings of the charity collections, “Social Fridge”, Lead discussions and meetings on important topics identified by each group, Assist as needed in the respective administrative offices, Assist in organizing Sunday school and catechesis classes and youth meetings from the Lutheran Church, Coordinate meetings for Parish members (including seniors) Help the Parish Kindergarten “Happy Notes” Requirements Bachelor’s degree, preferred.Previous work experience with children, young people, and/or disadvantaged peoples Willingness to study Polish A commitment to the mission of the church. Openness to various expressions of Christian faith and respect for people of other faiths, beliefs, values and customs of church and culture. Well-developed inter-personal skills demonstrating understanding and compassion.?  Demonstrate ability to carry out the responsibilities with the ability to adapt to different standards and practices. A variety of housing options are available at the cost of the volunteer. Emergency health insurance is provided by the ELCA. Physical Effort While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. This position requires sitting for long periods of time. Employee will occasionally need to lift boxes or materials up to 15 pounds.
