Accredited Approved Electrical Apprenticeship Preferred NVQ Level 3 (or Equivalent) Electrical Engineering Minimum Level 3 Electrotechnical Studies (or Equivalent) 18th Edition beneficial, although not essential Accredited technical or trade school or institute certification is preferred STCW - Offshore Survival ENG1 Medical Certificate Must pass pre-employment and random drug test Key Attributes: Excellent understanding of the English Language Excellent communication skills Good problem solving skills Work is planned and organized Co-operative and flexible regarding tasks and workload Capable of working in a structured manner Capable of working under pressure Safety performance - Safety culture and attitude Commitment to housekeeping at all areas Makes recommendations for improvements JOB SUMMARY: The Rig Electrician is responsible for is responsible for ensuring that the operation and maintenance of the electrical installations and the electrical equipment is kept at a high level so breakdown during operation is avoided. The Rig Electrician will work closely with Mechanical and Technical engineers to ensure that Drilling Equipment is kept up and running with minimal down time, and maintenance schedules are upheld to the highest standards. RESPONSIBILITIES: Every employee shall be held accountable and responsible for: Adhering to the Geoquip Marine Policies and Procedures relating to quality, health, safety and the environment. All Geoquip Marine personnel should not only adhere to the policies and procedures but should actively promote their contents to continually improve QHSE both offshore and onshore. Provide preventive, Planned and Un-Planned maintenance and for the repair of the electrical equipment, machines and systems; Ensure that all reporting routines are followed and that all equipment related paperwork is carried out within area of responsibility, such as maintenance records, updating of service and instruction manuals, instructing procedures, etc.; Be familiar with reporting routines regarding the CMMS Procedures & maintenance system on board; Keep the stock of spare parts and consumables for the equipment of his/her responsibility at the appropriate level by verifying the stock levels and raising purchase requests to his/her superiors to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained, taking in consideration future maintenance requirements and delivery time; Monitor the reliability of spare parts utilized; Supervise the disassembly, loading, unloading and assembly of the power plant and electrical devices and equipment; Be familiar with all classification society and authorities rules and regulations applicable to his/her area of responsibility Ensure that all orders and instructions received verbally or in writing are fully understood and adhered to; Be safety conscious in all his work and use compulsory protective equipment; Ensure he/she is familiar with all applicable work and safety procedures, and promote implementation of same; Ensure all Isolations are carried out as per company and relevant authorities rules and/or regulations Supervise all third party Electrical Contractors or visitors when on company owned assets. Instruct all personnel assigned to him/her of their duties and responsibilities and of any special safety precautions to be taken prior to start-up of any work; Promptly report all accidents, near-miss accidents, Non-Conformances and safety hazards to his/her immediate superior; Participate in safety meetings and safety drills held on board; Carry out his/her duties according to the Emergency Preparedness Action Plan when needed; Ensure good housekeeping in his/her working areas; Push own learning and CPD to continuously strive to be at top of field. Safety Ensure adherence to safety and maintenance policies and procedures. Participate in and promote the Company’s STAR 10 Life Saving Rules and Observation Card program. Participate in the weekly and operational safety meetings. Participate in Risk Assessment or Job Safety Analyses analysis as required. Carry out inspections and audits according to the Management System Requirements. Assist in rig Mobilization and Demobilization as required. Follow Geoquip Marine policies and procedures and performs all duties in accordance with the Permit to Work System. Perform other duties as assigned. Assist in development, revise and review procedures and work instructions. Familiar with navigation of Integrated Management System (IMS).
