Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Role and Responsibilities: Position manages Technology Operations including all systems and processes associated with the innovation process (IPP), department budget/finance tracking, data collection/storage/analysis, data visualization/reporting, and data analytics. Operations: Maintain and improve Technology spending systems and reporting / budgeted allocations. Allocate and track project expense budgets; Facilitate monthly expense allocation to product lines. Support improvements to finance tracking process and systems. Support Portfolio Analysis. Maintain Portfolio Lists and Reporting Tools. Develop IPP Project Key Performance Indicators. Maintain Technology Metrics Scorecard. Facilitate Patent and Technical Excellence awards. Drive IPP systems improvements. Support integration of capability process and systems to reporting/ decision making tools Leadership: Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Identifies and communicates to stakeholders, meaningful, actionable insights from Operations data. Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect larger COC organization. Regularly interacts with COC Technology Leaders and managers as well as business and Mfg. leaders. Regularly communicates initiatives and policy to COC Product Development community. Travel Requirements: Limited travel expected. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent. Experience in the management of complex, cross-functional, culturally diverse teams containing both technical and non-technology role function. Minimum of 7 years of technology, science and engineering, and/or data analytics experience. Required Skills: Demonstrated personal initiative with a track record of completing challenging business objectives. Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle ambiguity, changing priorities and changing requirements. Ability to manage and effectively leverage a team of diverse expertise, backgrounds, cultures, and styles. Experience in project management (prioritization, planning, product release). Experience with facilitation and change management. Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint) Desired Skills: Analysis of budgetary and spending reports. Develop tracking methods for measuring portfolio and organization performance. Leading analysis team. Experience with SharePoint OOTB and knowledge of advanced SharePoint tools. Experience with data management and structures. Experience with BI and query tools (Excel, Power BI, Power query, SQL/R novice, DAX novice). Power BI report visualization design and implementation. Experience in web layout and coding (HTML, JAVA, JSON). Experience with SAP, SQL operations. Experience using basic statistical methods. Knowledge and understanding of Fiber Optic Telecom products, processes, market and systems. Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external customers and within multi- national groups. Ability to effectively communicate to leadership. Ability to clearly express technical ideas. Ability to influence outside of direct reporting structure. Ability to motivate individuals and manage situationally, good coaching and mentoring skills.
