Your career opportunity Location: Krakow Global Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a sub function of Group Risk and Compliance. Its purpose is to make sure HSBC understands and effectively controls its non-financial risk position, through end-to-end oversight of processes, risks, and controls and by robust stewardship of the bank's risk appetite to comply with risk, business and regulatory priorities. It seeks to strengthen the risk culture across the organisation through the application of effective policies and frameworks that drive consistent risk management practices across our businesses and functions at global, regional and market level. The role holder is responsible for coordinating with the ERM representatives in each of the Europe Network Markets and providing direct ERM oversight and named stewardship to those HSBC Network Markets that don’t have onshore ERM resources. The role holder will support the Regional Head of Data and Network Markets to ensure the consistent, high quality delivery of ERM service to the businesses and functions in the Network Markets, and ensure that the Regional ERM Leadership Team has a good sense of the context, regulatory focus, events, issues and concerns, including any themes or trends, in those geographies. Main Duties Ensure the integrity and timely completeness of risk and control identification, assessment and information within the Group’s Risk and Control system of record (Helios) as well as directing documented remediation plans for residual risks Conduct thematic reviews across the Network Markets, Europe to identify trends or emerging issues, and to ensure that the risk and control environment is commensurate with the scale and nature of operations Direct and support the businesses and functions in the Network Markets, Europe on their Operational and Resilience Risk management and act as a key contact and escalation for senior stakeholder engagement, making sure delivery is consistent and of high quality Develop, deploy and embed the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and provides advice, guidance and challenge in relation to ERM oversight and internal control effectiveness across the Network Markets, Europe Provide 2LOD oversight of top and emerging risks Assess compliance with Group policies and risk appetite Attend non-financial risk governance forums, providing both Operational Risk oversight and robust and timely Risk Steward challenge of the First Line of Defence (1LOD) view of the Resilience Risk profile as required Responsible for developing and promoting an increasingly insightful service-based view of Operational and Resilience Risks Support the implementation and embedding of the ERM functional strategy Apply risk stewardship review and challenge over Resilience Risk RCAs and the associated control environment, as well as investment in and prioritisation of remediation of issues and resilience vulnerabilities. Work closely with Strategic Change Oversight to risk assess and oversight material change programmes from planning through to execution, particularly in relation to embedding appropriate operational resilience at the outset. Requirements: Strong level of business management knowledge and experience of working in a senior role Strong level of risk management knowledge and relevant experience Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment (risk, regulatory, geopolitical, competitor etc.) A BA or BS University Degree, advanced degrees preferable, (e.g. MBA, MSc, PhD) in relevant discipline Professional qualifications may be advantageous.
